Sasaki Lab of Environmental Policy Informatics
Lab focuses teaching and research on applications of Information and
Communications Technology in Environmental Policy and Awareness study.
Climate change is a global problem that requires individual
participation to mitigate it. Understanding public responses to climate
change mitigation efforts is important for policy making. Google's
online tools such as Adwords and its tools, Insights for Search, and
Timeline View were used to assess the Japan's public environmental
towards climate change mitigation and mitigation measures introduced by
Japanese government. Google Adwords and Microsoft Bing Ads offer
various tools useful for scientific studies in addition to online
marketing. Sasaki Lab continues to explore ways to make use of these
freely available tools for environmental studies and related fields.
Environmental Policy: Sasaki Lab is one of the leading research groups that focus research on tropical forestry and REDD+ scheme. Sasaki lab focuses teaching and research on modeling of the impact of decision making and incentives on carbon emissions, emission reductions and removals in mainly tropical forests. Deforestation and forest degradation are responsible for up to 25% of the 35 billion tonnes CO2 emissions globally. With appropriate management and the right climate incentives, tropical forests could play very important roles in climate change mitigation and sustainable development. Sasaki Lab continues to expand its research scope to cover the possible use of Google's mapping tools such as Google Map Engine and Google Earth Engine for forest carbon monitoring, biodiversity conservation, and environmental related fields.
Students in any background can join and conduct research at Sasaki Lab. Sasaki Lab is an Accredited Professional certified by Google Adwords and Microsoft Bing Ads.
